"The Attacks Of 26/11 Is My Best Film, Better Than Satya": Ram Gopal Varma

"The Attacks of 26/11 is my best film," said Ram Gopal Varma in a no holds barred interview with me today. Is it better than Satya, I asked? "Yes, it's better than Satya," RGV replied. Mr Varma showed me an unreleased promo of the film. I've been critical of his works in the past and have openly expressed my reservations. But the promo that I saw of 'The Attacks Of 26/11' left me stunned. Being a Mumbaikar, I remember that night very clearly and snatching a few moments from it was a chilling experience. A women shot in the head from behind, a state of absolute disarray and blood spewing from hapless civilians.

RGV confirmed that he shall be shooting the dramatic manner in which Kasab's was hanged at Pune's Yerwada's Jail. Former ATS Chief Hemant Karkare's wife Kavita Karkare's is reportedly upset with Varma for showing Rakesh Maria (played by Nana Patekar) in a positive light. What is RGV's reaction to that? Is he ready for the backlash from fundamental religious groups? Answering back to his critics, detractors and once-upon-a-time-friends and now-turned-sympathisers who doubt his ability to cast a spell, this is what RGV had to say: "Without taking names, I can only say one thing...I know what I am doing."

  1. will get the conversations going..thats for sure..in the same way 9-11 has been depicted here I think we toned it down as to not offend too many people. But RGV takes risks when no one else will.
