Abba On 'Umrao Jaan' And The 'Surprise Value' In Poetry

As the days go by, Abba's memories linger on. At times, I end up saying 'good morning', 'Assalamalaikum', 'Kya sahab' exactly the same way as Abba used to say. I guess it is a subconscious process and it will continue to live on. Yes, it is difficult to fathom that he is not around any more. I am glad that I had recorded a few of his conversations and I have saved these recordings. I would like to share a few of these recordings.

1) This is a recording of my father Professor Shahryar in January 2012 where he recites one of his couplets: Ibtida jo bhi ho anjaam hai har ek ka ye/ Zinda rahne ki hawas aur junoon duniya ka

2) This is a recording of my father Professor Shahryar in December 2011 where he talks about 'Umrao Jaan' and its importance in his life. Abba had written all the songs of this film. 

3) This is a recording of my father Professor Shahryar on his thoughts on writing poetry. This was recorded by me on my mobile phone in December 2011. Abba's friend Sidduiq uncle is also part of this conversation. He is one of the closest friends of Abba and visited him religiously in his last days.
