Sporadic selfishness of Roses and Lilies
A Poem by Faridoon Shahryar
My eyes are hungry to
Capture beautiful landscapes
Maybe to wipe out
The worrisome horrors
That were inadvertently
Peddled non stop
By the misplaced ideology
And the intolerant liberals
Parched breath
That was sapped
Of all moisture,
Aided by the glorious
Perfume of life
Is once again
Lusting for
The roses and lilies
That were always there
But maybe I was
More keen on
The incorrigible stench,
The blame lies with me
And I accept my fault.
Call it an escape
Or a form of weakness
But I am clinging on
To a ray of respite.
I am open to fighting
Selflessly...Again!
But let me also enjoy
My share of sporadic selfishness.
