A Worthwhile Fun Fest In Goa!

I am back from a wonderful trip to Goa after covering the Channel V Nokia Fest (January 18-19, 2013). We arrived in Goa on January 17 and our return flight was on January 20 which gave us ample time to relax. The weather in Goa was excellent. For the first two days I went for an early morning jog and relished the peaceful and fresh ambience along the superbly calm Baga river. Today morning, I, along with five other guys went to the Candolim Beach. The sea was choppy and the experience of being swayed by the waves was awesome.

I had a fun time feasting on the concerts of Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Farhan Akhtar. There was Raghu Dixit's concert as well but somehow his music doesn't enthuse me (though the crowd support was good). The crowd support was excellent for Farhan. Even though he has obvious limitations as a vocalist, he played on his strengths and kept it simple. The backing vocalists were helpful too. The manner in which the crowd lustily cheered for Akhtar is a great news for him as a youth icon.

Shankar Ehsan Loy were in their element. Shankar, especially knows how to whip up mad frenzy. He has a tremendous stamina and is a master at gauging the mood and requirement of the audience. Before the concert, the trio and their entire team of musicians and backing vocalists huddled together for a small prayer. The title track of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom or Uff Teri Ada from Karthik Calling Karthik were huge hits at the show even though the two songs are a part of flop films. SEL have Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Two States lined up for this year besides other films. The trio are also working on the background score of the eagerly anticipated Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

During the three days we had great food at Brittos, Angaara and last night at a fascinating Greek joint called Thalassa respectively. I have taken a fancy to a Goan dish called Chicken Cafreal that I ate at Brittos. Chicken tastes even better with the coriander curry which is the USP of Cafreal. Mohit, Monika and Payal took wonderful personalised care of us. A big thank you to them for everything.
